CQU Press has received a letter from the Hon Desley Boyle, Minister for Environment, Local Government and Women, announcing that it has won a a partnership grant from the Office of Women.
The grant is for $10,000 and is to assist in a project to edit, publish, promote, launch and market the book: 'From Suffragettes to Legislators.

CQU's Ron Smyth building (in Rockhampton's Quay Street) has hosted the Optus opening of the SmartNet Network.
SingTel Optus general manager Mark Williamson and Hon Robert Schwarten MP, Minister for Public Works, Housing and Racing, joined about 30 government, business and community leaders at the official opening of the Optus SmartNet* network.

They've been hot and soggy but the 32 participants in CQU Rockhampton's Girls in Maths, Science and Technology Summer School were still smiling today as they neared the end of the week-long event.
According to the coordinator and CQU Biology lecturer, Sheila Jeffery, the aim of the school is to encourage more girls from Central Queensland to accept the challenges of these ever-growing fields through engagement with practical hands-on activities.

The Facilities Management Division was pleased to open Stage 1 of the roadworks to traffic on Tuesday, February 8.
The section of roadway from the intersection of University Road through to Archer Place has been upgraded to provide a safer entrance to CQU, with drainage, curbing and channelling that meets current road standards.

CQU has introduced a unique on-the-job education program designed to increase career opportunities, ensure sustainability and enhance mining operations across the state and throughout Australia.
The program – a special undergraduate degree – was developed in response to the growing needs of the coal industry, government agencies and Central Queensland communities.

Visitors to the marina will soon have a way of identifying the dolphins seen in the Gladstone harbour as a result of the research being carried out by English intern student, Laura Bacon.
Laura is a Bachelor of Science student at Salford University in Manchester, England, and is completing a practical component of her degree with staff at CQU’s Centre for Environmental Management.

CQU Mackay researcher and lecturer, Dr Judith Wake has been successful in securing an $18,000 funding grant from the Mackay Whitsunday Natural Resource Management Group (MWNRMG) to undertake research into mangrove dieback.
The team of researchers consists of Dr Judith Wake from CQU's Centre for Environmental Management and Bronwyn Masters and Ed Oldmeadow from the Department of Natural Resources and Mines.

Nulloo Yumbah is seeking expressions of interest to tutor CQU students who live at Mackay, Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Gladstone or Emerald. Nulloo Yumbah is Central Queensland University's Indigenous Learning, Spirituality and Research Centre.
