- Natalie warms to coal thanks to work placement

CQU student Natalie McIntosh has developed a keen interest in the mining industry thanks to a paid work placement at an Anglo Coal mine near Moranbah.
Ms McIntosh has also become a keen supporter of CQU's Cooperative Engineering degree since it is providing essential work experience.
- Northern Sydney Institute agreement smooths pathways from TAFE to Uni

CQU has smoothed the pathway between TAFE and University by signing a Joint Activity Agreement (JAA) with the Northern Sydney Institute of TAFE.
This move complements an existing agreement with the CBD-based Sydney Institute of TAFE and is expected to be enhanced via agreements with other Institutes of TAFE in the future.

Public Works, Housing and Racing Minister Hon Robert Schwarten has thanked CQU's Multimedia Development Centre and Institute for Sustainable Regional Development for their role in facilitating a new Bowen Basin Website launched today.
The website launch took place during the Central Queensland Community Engagement Showcasing Event.

CQU Bundaberg-based Dr Karl Neuenfeldt has produced a major CD collection of Torres Strait Islander music and songs to mark the opening on Thursday Island of the region's first major cultural centre.
Entitled Paipa, the CD was launched this week by TSI musician Seaman Dan.

Considerable interest has been generated by a proposed reunion of the Institute Rugby Union Club and dates have been set for the event.
The Institute club was a forerunner of the current University club.
- Bushdancers step out for 'graduation'

This week more than 50 bushdancers gathered at the graduation for 23 new bushdancers who had taken part in the Jacana Bushdancers Fun, Fitness & Friendship course funded by the 10 000 Steps program Community Grant Scheme.
Participants in the six-week course were evenly divided between males and females, with ages ranging from the 20s to the over 50s.

CQU Sydney International Campus InfoCom staff member Andrew Mamo has gained success in the 2004 International Digital Art Awards.
Two of Andrew's images, Black Frost and Three Leagues, were finalists in the Still Images category of the competition.

New CQU Faculty of Informatics and Communication academic Dr Carol Steiner is featured in a multi-page spread in this month's Australian Financial Review Boss magazine.
Dr Steiner is quoted as a corporate philosopher based on her research at companies like Vision Systems.

Several students from Wowan State Primary School sent thank-you letters to the CQU Rockhampton staff who informed and entertained them during a visit to CQU last month.
In her best cursive writing Lynette -- one of the young students -- wrote: "I'm starting to look forward to univeristy.

After 45 years of service and 35 years of retirement, 93-year old Fred Sleeman returned to his former workplace, the Rockhampton Heritage Post Office.
“When I first started there were two buildings here and the mail trucks used to drive in between them and dump the mail bags,” said Fred, during his tour of the heritage-listed sandstone building, owned by CQU.
