Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    When the whole nation is shocked by the racial turmoil erupted from the Sydney area, CQU has sponsored a solo art exhibition entitled “Worship in Asian Folklores” in Rockhampton, Central Queensland.

    Stephen Lin, a recipient of a recent grant from CQU’s Regional Centre of the Arts, opened his exhibition a few days ahead of schedule at request of the gallery to fit into its Open Day.

    Almost 91% of Central Queensland University bachelor degree graduates found full-time employment within four months of completing their degrees, according to the 2005 Graduate Destination Survey (GDS) results released today.

    CQU ranked 10% higher than the national average of 80.

    Sixty staff members from CQU Mackay celebrated the festive season recently with a Christmas lunch for all academic and general staff held in the Refectory.

    On arrival, guests were greeted with a glass of Champaign and aperitifs, and enjoyed the opportunity to chat with colleagues from across the campus.

    For the past month staff members from Central Queensland University (CQU) Mackay have been donating Christmas goodies and non-perishable food items to the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal.

    Staff members have donated all sorts of items for Christmas, from tinned food, plum puddings and Christmas baked goods to nuts, sweets and lollies for the kids, and CQU Mackay has also made a cash donation to the appeal.
