Rockhampton -- A very high number of offers have been made to applicants wanting to start at CQUniversity this March. The University is offering nearly 11% more (domestic) undergraduate places than it did the same time last year largely to do with new programs in Law, Medical Imaging, Sonography and Paramedics that begin in just about 6 weeks.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard dropped in to CQUniversity during her tour of the flood-effected region on Saturday, spending time at the Red Cross Evacuation Centre in the University's Community Sports Complex.
Prime Minister Gillard was guided around the Evacuation Centre by Acting Vice Chancellor Jennelle Kyd, and Red Cross Centre Coordinator Tim McInerny.

A dream to go to University has come true for Paria Amin, an Iranian immigrant living in Emerald, in Queensland's Central Highlands.
Paria had always longed to go to University - an impossible ambition back in her home country - but now has had the opportunity thanks to CQUniversity's bridging program, STEPS (Skills for Tertiary Entrance Preparatory Studies).

Chair of the Australian Psychological Society's Disaster Reference Group Kevin Ronan is in the centre of the Queensland flood disaster in Rockhampton and has witnessed first-hand the resilience of this tough community.

CQUniversity advises Central Queenslanders who applied to commence study at CQUniversity in Term 1 (March) through QTAC and want to make changes to their QTAC application but do not have access to a computer or the internet due to the flood conditions, are instructed to contact QTAC directly via phone for assistance.
QTAC staff will make the changes, manually, on your behalf.

CQUniversity will make available emergency one-off Grants of up to $1000 each to eligible flood-stricken enrolled students who need funds to cover their study-related expenses as part of the University's comprehensive response to students affected by the Central Queensland flood, it was announced this week.
Funds are limited and students seeking the financial aid will be required to participate in an interview, demonstrate low personal or family income and provide detailed reasons for their request of assistance.
