- International celebration in Mackay

A group of international students from CQU Mackay helped 3 departing students celebrate the completion of their studies during a special dinner and presentation last week.
The dinner, which was well attended by international students at Mackay campus, was also attended by Head of Campus Professor Phillip Clift, Sub-dean of the CQCM, Ms Judith Brown, two staff members from Student Services, Katrina Richmond and Julie Godden and Robyn Bailey, the International Student Support Officer from Student Services Rockhampton.

Fifteen students graduated from the bridging program; celebrating their success with family, friends and CQU staff.

Education and Arts Minister Rod Welford will conduct the Australian book launch of 'Travellers' Tales - Best Stories Under the Sun Vol 2', a national short story anthology edited by Michael Wilding and David Myers.
The CQU Press title will be launched in the Red Room on Parliament House in Brisbane from 5.

CQU Plant Sciences PhD candidate Ben Kele has been placed in the top 10 finalists for the Queensland Regional Achievers Awards.
Nominated by CQU’s Professor David Midmore, Mr Kele could be one of five award winners recognised for making a difference in their community.

CQU Melbourne International Campus student Velly Vabriany has been presented with an iPod after participating in the CQU Library’s Rodski Survey.
Students were invited to give their opinions in the online survey between August 8 and 21.

Dr Daniel Frimpong has credited C Management Services, CQU's international campus joint venturer, with helping him complete his PhD.
He said after leaving a banking career in 1998, he made little progress in his doctoral study until gaining a full-time position as a lecturer at CMS in 2001.

CQU’s Head of the School of Nursing and Health Studies, Dr Lorna Moxham has again been appointed to the management and steering committee of the Council of Deans of Nursing and Midwifery (CDNM).
The CDNM is the peak body for nursing education in Australia.

One of the leading funsters Kerry Reid-Searl (pictured as alter ego Iva Sore) said course evaluation feedbacks were overwhelmingly in favour of the use of humour in clinical skills classes including wound care, manual handling and interview techniques.

CQU Press Director Professor David Myers is just back from 10 days in India where he delivered the keynote address at the International Conference for Commonwealth Studies.
At Roorkee, a British hill station near the Ganges, he thanked New Zealand High Commissioner Heather Ward for opening the Conference and then delivered the keynote conference address entitled “Empire, Commonwealth and Fashions in Literary Criticism”.
