Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Poems and stories flowing out the Idiom23 writer's workshop (in the Byfield forest) last year have inspired a range of artworks, which have in turn inspired more literature.

    The best of the intertwined output from local artists and writers will be on show during an afternoon soiree function at The Gallery Emu Park on Sunday, July 27 from 2pm, complete with musical entertainment, readings and refreshments.

    The Campus Director's Award for Leadership not only acknowledges exceptional academic achievement, but also identifies students who have contributed to the community, in a capacity to act as mentors or role models for future students.

    The CQU Multicultural Fair and Open Day brought plenty of colour to the community on Sunday, thanks to enthusiastic participation by staff, students and members of the public.

    Some visitors drove for up to 8 hours just to attend the event.
