Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Australia's International Centre of Excellence in Water Resources Management (ICE WaRM) this week (July 30) officially launched an important initiative to help tackle the water crisis head-on - a post-graduate program to train the new leaders who will spearhead the management of our scarce water resources.

    The Masters program in Water Resources Management is the first of its kind in Australia.

    Country singer Kimber Sparks is continuing to juggle her music career and family responsibilities with studies at CQU and is now working towards her MBA at the Gold Coast International Campus.

    She completed her marketing degree with CQU last year but ran out of time to attend graduation.

    Professor Kerri-Lee Krause, Director of the Griffith Institute for Higher Education, will talk about enhancing engagement by first-years, from 1pm-2pm on Monday, August 20.
