Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    The program is part of a wider push to bring order and certainty to the Philippines' property ownership system.

    CQUniversity Noosa first-year learning management students, with their lecturers Sue Davis and Kathy Bauer, provided a range of creative activities for children who came to the Great Noosa Camp Out recently.

    These activities focused on using the environment and natural materials to create rubbings, collages, a story mat and weavings.

    CQUniversity PhD candidate Judith Applegarth and academics Dr Trudy Dwyer and Associate Professor Lorna Moxham have beaten the odds to have their paper accepted for the next European Society of Human Reproduction & Embryology (ESHRE) annual meeting, scheduled for Rome from June 27-30.

    "There was a less than 3% chance of even getting up," Dr Moxham said.

    He grew up in Canada and completed a Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Counseling prior to completing a PhD in Clinical Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology.

    When Rockhampton-based nursing academics Dr Kerry Reid-Searl, Associate Professor Lorna Moxham and Dr Trudy Dwyer prepared their Student Nurse Maths and Medication Survival Guide, they had no idea it would one day feature in a major international movie.

    They are quite chuffed since their UK publisher Pearson Education was approached recently by the producers of Attack the Block, promoted as a fast, funny, frightening action adventure movie that pits a teen gang against an invasion of savage alien monsters.
