Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Intrigued by Executive Coaching? The Australian Leadership Development Centre (ALDC) is running a special 2 Hour Forum at CQUniversity Mackay Campus on Tuesday, October 7 that will reveal what is really involved in an executive coaching program and why such programs work.

    The 2 hour forum "Uncover Secrets of Executive Coaching" has been developed by ALDC to give local Mackay HR personnel and individual leaders an opportunity to learn about the executive coaching process and how it can help them in their leadership development efforts.

    CQUniversity's Idiom 23 Literary Magazine sponsored a highly successful creative writing workshop on North Keppel Island recently.

    Thirty-eight participants, including workshop coordinator Dr Lynda Hawryluk, tutors Kristin Hannaford and Louise Waller and songwriter Steve Butler were accommodated at NKI Environmental Education Centre, travelling across to the Island on Gundoo Spirit, on September 12.

  • Des Ryan - Companion of the University

    Des Ryan has become an inspiration for many people because of the way he has risen above his disability after suffering a spinal injury at the age of 14 which left him a partial C3 quadriplegic and wheelchair bound.

    Despite having no movement in his arms or legs and only limited movement in his fingers that allows him to operate a wheelchair, Mr Ryan has been a pioneer in the provision and improvement of services for the disabled both at CQUniversity and the wider community over a very long period.

    Mackay-based sisters Kelly and Cindy Gamblin helped each other with motivation and support but acknowledge being a bit competitive about getting the highest marks towards their Accountacy degrees.

    The siblings graduated together at the Rockhampton ceremony on Tuesday evening (Sept 23).

  • Nursing students encourage support for Thailand program
