- Brisbane and Gold Coast high achievers awarded

Four high-achieving students from CQU's Brisbane and Gold Coast international campuses have been awarded the prestigious Directors’ Leadership Awards.
These awards recognise students who excel academically, demonstrate leadership ability, and are involved in extra-curricular and community activities.

The general manager and distributor of Phytech products, Samuel Plant has visited CQU Rockhamtpon and the Plant Sciences Group (PSG) to present a seminar on 'Complete Plant Monitoring' using Phytotech sensors.
The visitor also displayed various products for complete plant monitoring, including weather and soil monitoring.

At a recent workshop held for WIST students in Pomona, WIST students decided to continue to meet as a way of providing additional support to each other.

Continuing a tradition started last year, the current 4th-year Social Work students have, in their learning groups, video-taped a message to the 1st-year Bachelor of Social Work students due to start in 2007.
The students were attending a week-long residential school last week when they placed a DVD-ROM disc containing the messages in the BSW ‘time capsule’ buried in the courtyard of building 32.

- Bike chicks 'pedal' success

The Rockhampton Cycling Club’s Bike Chicks Development Program launch held at CQU Rockhampton on Wednesday June 21 was a success, with members of the inaugural program introduced and presented with their Bike Chicks team shirt as well as a goodie bag from Complete Harmony, one of the program’s major sponsors.
The Bike Chicks Development Program has attracted 11 ‘chicks’ ranging from 10 – 23 who have committed to a 5-month cycling development program aimed at engaging the girls in cycling for fitness and fun and to introduce them to the competitive aspects of the sport.

Mackay's Nadine Sleeman, a CQU business student, has been named Trainee of the Year at the CQ regional final of the 2006 Queensland Training Awards.
According to the Daily Mercury, the 18-year-old works full-time for Skills Training Mackay and is also completing a TAFE accounting diploma, on top of her CQU studies.
