Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    More than 50 senior school students from across Queensland will attend a 3-day Engineering Link Program at CQUniversity Rockhampton from September 23-25.

    Students will have the opportunity to get ‘hands-on' with activities such as building string bridges, measuring themselves for space suits, recycling paper, recovering water from a cup of tea and holding back a sea of sand with sugar cube walls.

    In a bid to cut down on crime and violence in the complex, management at Stockland Rockhampton have recently placed age restrictions on their customers.

    In the past 18 months there have been four fatal accidents in the Walkerston division.
