The CQUniversity community is saddened by the loss of lives and devastation in Victoria's fires and the North Queensland floods, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Angela Delves said.
"As far as we are aware all staff and students are safe, but we know many, including alumni, are close to people affected by these tragedies and our hearts go out to them all," Professor Delves said.

Long-serving IT services technician Arthur Cleary is leaving CQUniversity happy to have been able to influence the careers of many younger staff and students.
He said that hearing a former colleague was now working for Microsoft was among his proud career moments.

The group has used University facilities in the city in previous years.

Brisbane's home-schooled students came in droves recently to hear about how they could begin university study before completing year 12.
CQUniversity's Promotions and Recruitment Officer Crystal Chopping and Aviation Technology Senior Lecturer Ron Bishop met with 70 families at 2 separate meetings in Brisbane over the past few months (the second meeting was just last week) to discuss the opportunities that are available through the University's Start Uni Now (SUN) program.
