Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

  • Thai graduate snares World Health Organisation position

    CQU graduate Waruntip Tatiyavongchai (pictured right) now has a position with the World Health Organisation in Bangkok where she is the International Co-ordinator for the Thai Minister for Health.

    The Thai graduate successfully completed a Bachelor of Business Administration program at CQU Melbourne and was among four students awarded Campus Director’s Awards for Leadership recently.

  • Hong Kong visitor keen to expand relationship

    Hong Kong College of Technology representative Erica Lau visited CQU Rockhampton recently to explore opportunities to expand the relationship between the two organisations, which has existed since 1996.

    Ms Lau said her visit was arranged to review the current offerings of business and IT degrees and to plan for future offerings.

    The Brisbane City Carlton Crest Hotel was the venue for CQU's combined Brisbane/Gold Coast international campuses graduation ceremony on September 8.

    The ceremony opened on cue with the VIPs and guests led to the centre stage by the brightly coloured ‘flag procession’ and a rousing rendition of ‘Waters of Kyleskew’ by our regular bag pipe player Gordon Fergusson.
