Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    CQUniversity recently welcomed around 30 students from North Rockhampton State High School who needed access to specialised human performance testing equipment to complete projects within their PE curriculum.

    The students took turns testing each other on intense bike trials for metabolic analysis and energy system measurements.

  • CQUni academic wins prized course at Harvard School of Dental Medicine

    CQUniversity's Associate Professor Leonie Short was the recipient of a $5000 prize from Colgate Oral Care, enabling her to attend the Senior Dental Leaders Program at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston during March.

    This strategic leadership program is an initiative of the Global Child Dental Fund through King's College London and Harvard School of Dental Medicine.

    Chiropractic Science student Natalia Miletic has returned from two weeks in Durban, South Africa where she represented CQUniversity at the World Congress of Chiropractic Students (WCCS).

    Natalia was granted voting membership to the WCCS, after making a presentation to the congress about CQUniversity and the Chiropractic courses offered.

    Noosa's Joanna Dell has gained the confidence to enrol for a Bachelor of Social Work thanks to a foundation program known as STEPS - Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies.

    She was able to study STEPS on campus at CQUniversity Noosa before completing it by distance education.

    University librarians from Queensland, the Northern Territory and Northern New South Wales recently met at CQUniversity's Rockhampton Campus library to attend a meeting of the Queensland Universities Office of Cooperation (QULOC).

    QULOC is a collaborative organisation which provides a supportive framework for information exchange, good practice development, cooperative activities and the promotion of common interests which support the teaching, learning and research needs of member institutions.
