Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Struggling university students got a helping hand from the Department of Main Roads this week when four computers were delivered to CQU Rockhampton for the University's Student Computer Loan Program.

    On behalf of the Minister for Main Roads, Member for Rockhampton Hon Robert Schwarten presented four secondhand computers - two desktop and two laptops - to program organisers on Thursday, December 9.

    CQU Plant Sciences graduate Dr Poonam Bhatia plans to accept the offer of a prestigious fellowship to work at the University of Tokyo.

    The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Postdoctoral (JSPSP) Fellowship will allow her to study fundamental genetic processes which enable plants to cope with the stress of high-salt and low-water conditions.

  • Creative writing program a hit in Gladstone

    Gladstone’s budding writers have been meeting each Thursday morning at CQU Gladstone for a creative writing course, organised by CQU Foundation’s Fay Owens.

    Local resident, Noel Wooton, a retired journalist and businessman, facilitated the course which aimed to help people discover their creative writing skills.
