Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    CQU recently won the Education and Services category in its regional round of the 2006 Premier of Queensland's Export Awards.

    It was a finalist for the State-level awards (announced on October 12) but the Education category went to James Cook University this year.

    CQU Adjunct Professor of Property Terry Boyd has been singled out as an industry leader, taking the 2006 Property Industry Award at the Australian Property Institute annual awards ceremony last Thursday evening (October 5).

    The citation for the award notes Dr Boyd's distinguished track record as a senior academic in the property field and says he has extensive international professional and business experience.

    Central Queensland University will offer up to 10 Accounting, Business and Information Technology programs in New Zealand this year when its first cohort of students commences studies in November, it was announced this week.

    In another venture with its long-standing commercial partner, Campus Group Holdings, CQU will provide the programs at the New Zealand International Campus in Heretaunga, Wellington, formerly New Zealand’s Central Institute of Technology.
