Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

  • Mackay teams blitz junior robotics

    Primary and secondary students from Mackay competed and beat Rockhampton teams at the Central Queensland Junior Robotics Competition at CQU Rockhampton on the weekend.

    More than 15 teams competed in four different categories: Soccer, Dance (Open), Dance (Primary) and Rescue.

  • Korean students visit Mackay campus

    CQU Mackay this week hosted five Korean students and their teacher on a tour of the campus.

    The five students, who range in age from 13 to 17, have spent the past two weeks in Mackay with their host schools Whitsunday Anglican School and Mackay Christian College.

  • CQU hosts visitor from King's College London

    CQU was a co-sponsor of this week's Queensland visit by Dr Christine Harrison, Director of the Assessment Group at King’s College London, who uses assessment to help teachers enhance learning.

    Dr Harrison has consulted on assessment for learning projects in California, Scotland and England and is a popular speaker at national and international conferences.
