Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

  • CQU 'southern annex' staff dig deep for charity

    Staff from CQU Rockhampton’s southern annex have made their annual charitable donation – this year $900 goes to Childhood Cancer Support Inc.

    Last Friday, staff members donated the money to Childhood Cancer Support CEO Bill Watson, who was visiting Rockhampton, and local representative of the charity Jenny Hilcher.

    Students who have completed the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Tertiary Entry Program (TEP) at CQU Rockhampton celebrated their success during a presentation ceremony on Friday.

    Six students graduated from TEP having successfully completed 8 courses.

    The ceremony was held at the largest lecture theatre on campus, in front of family members, friends and STEPS staff.

    CQU Sydney student participants in the Tax Help Volunteer Program received Certificates of Completion from Campus Director Barbara Abou-Lehaf at a luncheon on Monday, October 31.

    The Training Employment and Career Coaching Service (TECC) organised the luncheon to celebrate the success of the Tax Help Volunteer Program and to congratulate the student volunteers.

    Several of Brisbane’s prominent organisations were represented at the function, including Ennertrade, Singapore Business Association and Windsor Recruitment, along with professional bodies such as CPA and ACS Young IT Committee.
