Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Sala has been characterised by her lecturers as an excellent student, setting high standards in her work, having exemplary attendance records, and taking great care with assignments and meeting deadlines.

    CQU’s first mother and daughter pair to graduate from Nursing, Rosaleen Harp and Anne-Marie Newton, attended the recent STEPS 20th Anniversary celebrations in Rockhampton.

    The function brought back many memories for the pair who may be the only mother and daughter pair to begin and complete the same degree together at CQU.

  • CQU-based centre reduces major cost for long-haul rail freight

    The CQU-based RAIL Cooperative Research Centre’s (CRC) FreightMiser project is on track to shave 10 per cent off long haul freight fuel bills, thereby significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

    FreightMiser software, developed at the University of South Australia in conjunction with TMG Rail Technology as a project of Rail CRC, is an in-cab advice system for train drivers.

    Central Queensland University (CQU) is offering a distance-learning Graduate Certificate/Graduate Diploma program in Railway Signalling, which has also been recently expanded to include a course on railway telecommunications.

    These courses, which have been developed by the Rail CRC and licensed to CQU for delivery, are now open for applications for 2007 entry.
