- Send an e-card for World No Tobacco Day

CQU students and staff members are being encouraged to send an e-card to a friend or family member in conjunction with World No Tobacco Day on May 31.
World No Tobacco Day is an annual worldwide event to promote awareness about the health effects of smoking and to encourage smokers to make a plan to quit.
- Pupils 'get animated' and make documentary movie on visit to CQU

Students from St Anthony’s Primary and the Capricorn School of Distance Education will visit CQU this week for projects with the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Education.
CQU’s Colleen Cooling said the St Anthony’s group will create its own animated world news event (using a digital camera and i-movie).

A Bike Chicks Come and Try Cycling Day will be held from 10am-4pm on Sunday, May 28, at CQU Rockhampton.
Bike Chicks is being developed by CQU staff member and representative cyclist Alex Bright and her Rockhampton Cycling Club colleague Anouska Edwards (pictured at a recent competition).
- Jewell part of Mackay's Relay for Life effort

CQU Mackay senior lecturer Dr Rod Jewell took to the track at Mackay Showgrounds last weekend, completing several laps to raise money for cancer research in Queensland in the annual Relay for Life event.
Dr Jewell was diagnosed in October last year with prostate cancer and had surgery in January.

Multicultural Affairs Minister Chris Cummins will next week announce the winners of the 2006 Queensland Multicultural Awards, from a field including CQU.
Mr Cummins and local state members of parliament Robert Schwarten and Paul Hoolihan have paid tribute to the CQ region's "multicultural heroes" who have been nominated.

A Diabetes Educator-Registered Nurse from Queensland Health, Marie Melksham has spent a day on Rockhampton Campus with second-year nursing students.
"Diabetes is a chronic disease that affects nearly 20% of the population," Ms Melksham said.

Advice has been issued in relation to study materials.
As from Term 2, 2006, internally enrolled students will receive a printed copy of distance education materials for a course where these documents already exist for the flexible mode offering.
- CQU professor welcomed by World Vegetable Centre

At the invitation of Dr Thomas Lumpkin, the Director General of the World Vegetable Centre (AVRDC), Professor David Midmore visited its headquarters in Tainan, Taiwan to discuss potential research co-operation in the area of Horticultural Research.
Prior to employment at CQU, Professor Midmore was the Director of the Production Systems Program at AVRDC.
- Concert a tribute to former journalism student

Rockhampton district musicians and The Strand Hotel have organised a fundraising show in memory of Ross ‘Roscoe’ Green, a past journalism student and local musician who sadly passed on May 14 this year.
The concert will be held from 8pm on Thursday May 25 at the Strand Hotel in Yeppoon.
