Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

  • 'Master miner' guest speaker for Mackay Graduation

    Mining executive Tony Caruso will be guest speaker for CQUniversity Mackay's graduation ceremony, from 4pm on Thursday April 7 at the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre.

    A total of 94 students will celebrate their graduation and Nursing student Melissa Harris will deliver an address on behalf of graduates.

    Former CQUniversity academic and now Professor of Education Research Patrick Danaher recently returned to his old stomping ground to help our early career researchers gain confidence in preparing academic journal articles.

    Professor Danaher, now based at USQ, facilitated a writers' workshop arranged by our Learning and Teaching Education Research Centre (LTERC), in conjunction with the international Studies in Learning, Evaluation, Innovation and Development (SLEID) Journal.

    The holistic approach to nursing people with cancer is vital and allows us to see the patient as a whole (mind, body and spirit) and not just the cancer/disease process.

    That's according to CQUniversity Nursing student Lill Masters who has earned a Cancer Council Queensland ‘Alf Kretshmer Merit Award' for her essay on 'Caring for the person with cancer - a positive nursing experience'.

    Gladstone Regional Council has entered into a joint agreement with CQUniversity Australia to deliver a disaster resilience program to school children.

    Mayor Gail Sellers said Council was looking forward to working closely with CQUniversity's Bachelor of Learning Management students and staff to raise awareness of the impacts and effects of natural disasters and how to better prepare for them.
