Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

  • Baby wombat prepares to save her cousins

    The baby wombat, Kooloola (or Lulu), is the latest addition to the Central Queensland Wombat Research Centre which has been designed to help save the northern hairy-nosed wombat. The northern species is one of the world's most endangered mammals with only 110 surviving on one small national park in Central Queensland.

    Sitting on the white Gold Coast sand, the gentle sea breeze wafting through his hair as he watched the yachts and motor launches cruising the Broad Water, his mind and heart were drawn back to Brazil.

    As a young man, he earned the title of Sailing Champion in the “OPTIMIST” Class of yachting for two years running, in the tranquil waters off his hometown of Sao Paulo.

    After much time and effort by all involved in the process, the CRICOS Code Re-endorsement application, for a suite of 34 programs offered at the CQU Melbourne International Campus, was finally lodged at the Victorian Office of Training & Tertiary Education last week.

    Manager Academic Programs and and Coordinator Academic Programs Christina Lynch were both very happy to see the weighty document off the Melbourne Campus premises and safely to its destination at Treasury Place.

    The CQU Siemens Science Experience will be held from 21 to 23 January at the Rockhampton campus.

    Central Queensland University’s corporate identity guidelines are currently being revised to present CQU to our target markets more clearly and consistently.

    Some of the ‘basics’ such as what our logo represents, accepted versions of the logo and preferred placement have already been published on the Community Relations website.

    Rockhampton people are invited to support an original drama production staged by first year students from the Bachelor of Performing Arts program at Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music (Rockhampton Campus).

    The production called 'Empty Chairs' includes drama, song and dance to tell the story of ordinary people experiencing extraordinary events.
