Celebrated Australian author, journalist and academic Donald Horne will be in Rockhampton on Friday 7 June to speak about tolerance and what he calls “the need for a permanent liberal-democratic conspiracy.” Since the success of his best-seller, The Lucky Country, in the 1960’s, Donald Horne has been a prolific contributor and analyst of Australian society and he has served the nation in many different capacities.

CQU Sydney International Campus welcomes Dr Alan Dunk as the new Sub-Dean for the Faculty of Business and Law. Dr Dunk has a PhD in Accounting and has held the positions of Head of School and Director of Research of the Schools of Accounting and Finance at the University of Western Sydney and the University of Tasmania as well as Dean of the Faculty of Commerce at both Universities.

Long-term research conducted at Central Queensland University (CQU) on Australia's fresh waterways has new implications for safe drinking water standards around the world.
CQU Biologist Dr Larelle Fabbro, a national expert in the area of blue-green algae who has studied Central Queensland's Fitzroy River catchment for more than 15 years, says the characteristics of regional water bodies like Lake Elphinstone (an 8 kilometre long, shallow natural lake near Mackay) - home to some of the most dense and diverse blue green algae blooms in the world, including toxin forming species - are no longer unique.

Rare local treasures donated to Central Queensland University have a new home within the University Library's Capricornia collection that will ensure they are cared for and preserved for generations to come.
Some of the most valuable records of Central Queensland pastoral life dating back to 1857 are among scores of documents that will now be made electronically available to researchers and historians anywhere.

High school and university students learning dance via Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music recently performed for Year 7 Crescent Lagoon Primary School pupils at Rockhampton High Performing Arts Complex. At lunchtime, the following day, the Conservatorium's performing arts students returned to perform for a high school audience.

Former police detective turned cyber-adventure author, Simon Higgins, recently captivated a group of writing enthusiasts at CQU Mackay. Higgins, a charismatic speaker entertained an audience of around 100 people including high school students, local writers and literary studies students.
