- Adding brain to power mining

CQU is continuing its partnership with Central Queensland Institute of TAFE/TAFE Queensland Mining Services (CQIT/TQMS) and the mining industry to enable coal mine workers to upgrade their knowledge and qualifications, as well as their on-site skills.
The University recently (April 16) hosted a day-long session for students enrolled in the Associate Degree of Engineering (Mining), who are mainly from Anglo Coal operations (with a few from Xstrata and BMA mines).

Anyone keen to find out about how to write and publish a book is welcome to attend this month's Literary Latte at Rockhampton Northside Library, 154 Berserker Street.
The event, featuring CQU's Associate Professor Donna Lee Brien, will be held from 7pm on Wednesday April 30.

CQU's core self-service student administration system is now better for students and staff.
This has been a significant undertaking with a dedicated project team implementing the upgraded system - dubbed CQUcentral - over the past 18 months.

Need a qualification that's going to give you skills to progress into the next level at work? Considering university study but never finished high school? Or perhaps you're a high school student pondering studying uni subjects as part of your Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE)?
If these are questions you've asked yourself this year, you'll be pleased to know you don't have to wait until next year and you don't necessarily need to have completed year 12, to start studying at CQU Mackay in July this year.
Commencing study in July is known as a ‘Mid-year' intake and practical work experiences along with qualifications like those obtained at TAFE, might be all you need to start study in your area of choice.

CQU's SSUP (Student System Upgrade Project) Test Manager Sharon McFadzen was on a winning spree recently when she helped the Capricorn Field Archers club take home 21 medals at the National Archery Competition.
But Sharon was not the only McFadzen with a keen eye; her husband Mark, and son Kyle, also took home medals.
- Lights back on at the Lumiere

Melbourne's iconic art-house theatre, the Lumiere, will open again this Thursday night - not for an edgy world movie, but for an inaugural lecture hosted by Central Queensland University (CQU) Melbourne and compered by former television journalist Jo Pearson.
Liquid-crystal displays have replaced the movie screens and there are now 181 cushioned chairs instead of the old hard theatre seats.
