Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    The employers presented Powerpoint presentations providing students with a more in-depth understanding of their companies’ profiles, graduate development programs, and further employment opportunities.

  • Professors present at international sports conference

    Emeritus Professor John Cheffers and Professor Ken Hawkins, Chief General Manager International Campuses, presented their joint paper “Force and Persuasion” at the recent 13th Commonwealth International Sports Conference held in Melbourne.

    The Conference brings together members of the academic community, professional organisations and practitioners from the sports industry to discuss sport leadership and management, sport science and medicine, sport coaching and physical education, within the general theme “People, Participation and Performance”.

  • CQU hosts visiting librarians on cultural and professional exchange

    Two visiting librarians from Virginia, USA, recently toured the Central Queensland University (CQU) Library in Mackay and the Centre for Domestic and Family Violence Research, as part of a Group Study Exchange (GSE) sponsored and organised by the Port of Mackay Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Virginia.

    The visiting librarians, Shaunna Hunter and Rebekah Hartberger, both of Virginia, are part of a group of 5 Rotary sponsored visiting professionals who are visiting operations in their chosen vocation; as well as learning and enjoying the cultural aspects of life in Queensland.

  • CQU Postgraduate Diploma gets international stamp of approval

    In a significant milestone for railway signal engineering education, the Rail CRC-developed Postgraduate Diploma of Railway Signalling, offered by Central Queensland University (CQU), has been accepted by the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE) in the UK as an appropriate equivalent qualification when applying for corporate membership of the IRSE.

    The IRSE is the professional body for railway signalling engineers, based in the UK, with members throughout the world including Europe, Asia and North America.
