With highway black-spots nearby and cane trains and farm machinery operating every day, it's no surprise that Bundaberg residents take safety very seriously.

That's why there's growing interest in the city's emerging role as a hub for Accident Forensics and Accident Investigation courses offered by CQUniversity.

CQUniversity researchers have produced more published results indicating promise in the use of copper jugs to reduce waterborne diseases which threaten millions of lives in developing countries, including cholerae and typhoid.

Dr Riti Sharan and Professor Reed have worked with Sanjay Chhibber from India's Punjab University on their study of bacteria in water stored in traditional copper vessels for up to 24 hours at 30 degrees celcius.

Rockhampton will get a taste of international sport from August 7-9 as international students descend on the Beef Capital for the annual Chancellor's Challenge Cup hosted by CQUniversity.
