Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Primary and secondary school students from Rockhampton and Mackay will compete in the categories of dance, soccer and rescue during the 2nd annual CQ Junior Robotics Competition in Rockhampton.

    The robots will not be as threatening as those portrayed in the ‘I Robot’ movie.

    Dedicated health workers in Australia’s remote communities are faced with the challenges of staff shortages, vast distances, and restricted resources, in their work providing end-of-life care for Indigenous people.

    The 2004 Face of the Fair is a Biomedical Sciences graduate and current Graduate Certificate in Management student who also juggles part-time work.

  • Animal abuse linked to domestic violence, Mackay forum to be told

    Animal abuse may be the tell tale sign of domestic violence and child abuse, a visiting US psychologist said recently.

    Utah State University researcher Frank Ascione will present findings at the Queensland Centre for Domestic and Family Violence Research at Central Queensland University Mackay on July 27.
