Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Mackay residents with an appreciation of fine music and instruments got a good dose of both this Wednesday during ‘Judith, Stuart and Friends’ at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music theatre.

    Judith Brown, Sub Dean and lecturer at CQCM Mackay, is all about sharing her love of music with fellow musicians and fans.

    Vision-impaired jazz pianist Adam Bishop, a second-year student at CQU's Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music, recently took time out from his studies to speak to a group of aspiring early childhood students at Mackay State High School.

    Adam spoke about different approaches to designing learning experiences for young children with visual impairments.

  • Bachelor of Music Theatre students take to the kitchen to raise funds

    Bachelor of Music Theatre (BMT) students are working hard at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music to launch into the music entertainment industry and recently they’ve been in the kitchen to raise funds for their BMT Club.

    The club aims to raise funds to support the various finishing touches required to launch students into the industry after completion of studies.

    This was certainly the case for first year, mature-age student, Victoria Daniels who says if it wasn’t for her student mentor, second-year student Melissa Chedzey, she may not have adjusted to university life as well as she has.
