A Central Queensland University School of Management PhD student has received a $15,000 State Government grant to research economic impacts of declining water quality on the Great Barrier Reef.

Prabha Prayaga was one of two CQU students to receive the funding from the Growing the Smart State PhD funding program, administered by the Department of Premier and Cabinet, to pursue their research interests.

CQU Associate Professor Karl Neuenfeldt has helped preserve traditional songs from Rotuma Island, a Fijian dependency.

Dr Neuenfeldt helped record a CD entitled 'Rotuman Hymns and Chants', working in collaboration with the island's Churchwood Chapel Choir and the Oceania Centre for Arts and Culture.

CQU academic Dr Denis Cryle will contribute to the Central Queensland Constitutional Convention due to be held this Friday (February 17) in Rockhampton.
