Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    The Central Queensland Multicultural Association and CQUniversity have agreed to discontinue the annual Central Queensland Multicultural Fair, held in August, and instead will work on other projects that improve the level of knowledge and understanding of cultural diversity in Central Queensland, promote positive community relations and improve levels of access to services among diverse interest groups within Central Queensland.

    "The Fair has been a wonderful expression of community support for many years, but the Multicultural Association believes it's time for something new.

    Professor Taylor is featured in the list compiled by 'The Magazine of Engineers Australia (Civil Edition)' and published this month (June, 2008).

  • Koreans get taste of nursing 'Aussie style'

    Eighteen second-year nursing students from Korea's Ulsan College have arrived in Rockhampton, where they will spend 3 weeks on a cultural and educational visit.

    The visitors will get a chance to learn about Australian nursing practices by shadowing nurses at Rockhampton hospitals, as they go about their duties on the wards.
