Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Rockhampton is the beef capital of Australia, but could the city also be the fat capital? Central Queensland University’s Associate Professor Kerry Mummery will answer this question in a public lecture at CQU Rockhampton this month.

    Rockhampton: Fit or Fat City? will be the first lecture in the Faculty of Arts, Health and Sciences’ Public Lecture Series which begins Wednesday May 14.

    Dean of the Faculty of Nursing & Health at Griffith University, Professor Debra Creedy will visit Rockhampton this month to present a lecture on the “Emotional well-being of childbearing women: A review of the evidence”.

    Sweet Settlement co-author Bern Howlett was overjoyed when Mackay City Council employee Jeanette Thompson found two boxes of the books while cleaning through office space.

  • Dr Clegg Steels Himself for New Role

    Dr Richard Clegg has been appointed as Foundation Professor of Industrial Materials Science for the James Goldston Faculty of Engineering and Physical Systems’ Process Engineering and Light Metals (PELM) Centre, Gladstone Campus.

    Dr Clegg received his Bachelor of Engineering (First Class Honours) from the University of Queensland in 1985 and PhD from the Cambridge University Engineering Department in 1993.

  • Jessica Chosen for National Youth Choir

    Rockhampton singer Jessica Boyd is one of only two non-metropolitan singers chosen for the National Youth Choir of Australia’s 2003/2004 season.

    The season involves rehearsals and concerts in Brisbane from April 20-26 and a United States tour in December 2003 and January 2004.
