Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Twelve students from the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music (CQCM) will be performing excerpts from their production ‘Choices’ at the 7th Australian Injury Prevention Conference/2nd Pacific Rim Safe Communities Conference in Mackay today, September 16, 2004.

    ‘Choices’ is a collaborative project between Queensland Health, Queensland Police Service, Queensland Ambulance Service and the CQCM.

    After auditioning in Brisbane in July, Sarah is ready to leave in October on what will be her first overseas trip.

  • 10 000 Steps has unexpected results!

    On Monday, July 12 over 800 staff members, in 85 teams across five campuses commenced CQU’s 10 000 Steps Challenge for workplaces.

    Staff members were challenged to use pedometers and accumulate 5 million steps per team (the equivalent of walking across Australia) over an 8-12 week period.

    The magazine traces his career from painter and photographer through to being "seduced by the world of pixels'.

    Matthew is an Army Reserve Private with the 42nd Battalion, and he was presented with his award on September 11 at a formal function in Rockhampton.

    The group of second and third-year students heard about the benefits of becoming a Chartered Accountant (CA) and were introduced to the Institute of Chartered Accountants new web site ‘Fly Higher'.
