Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Four of the Faculty of Informatics & Communication’s prestigious prizes were awarded at the annual Prize Winners\' Ceremony in Rockhampton last week.

    CQU Foundation representative Reegan Bickey presented Klaye Morrison with the Rockhampton Community Services Club Informatics Prize for achieving the highest GPA in the first year of the Bachelor of Multimedia, with all courses taken in the first year.

    CQU has conferred the degree of Honorary Doctor of the University, the University’s highest award for recognition of service, on Suellen Ohl.

    Ms Ohl graduated from our predecessor institution, the Capricornia Institute of Advanced Education, with a Bachelor of Business Degree in 1976.

    Dr Lee Di Milia was presented with his award during CQU's Rockhampton graduation ceremonies over the weekend (Feb 26), after hearing about it while on sabattical in the USA.

    Most recently, she graduated with a Bachelor of Business in Information Systems at the CQU Rockhampton graduation (Feb 26).

    CQU Mackay academic Ashley Holmes and Rockhampton-based Kate Ames, Dr Philip Robertson and Jeff Young have been recognised as the 2004 joint recipients of the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Quality Teaching.

    They were recognised during the CQU Rockhampton graduation and the recent Teaching and Learning Showcase cocktail night.
