CQUniversity has extended its support of Central Queensland Indigenous Development Ltd (CQID) by sponsoring the fourth Annual Indigenous Reconciliation Carnival, taking place from Saturday January 22 to Monday January 24 at Rockhampton's Browne Park.
"The key concepts of the carnival are to celebrate and initiate the reconciliation process through a celebration of Indigenous culture, arts and sport in the spirit of understanding and reconciliation," said General Manager of Central Queensland Indigenous Development Jason Field.

Three CQUniversity staffers from Gracemere took the scenic route to work this week in the hope of meeting some end of financial year deadlines, despite roads into Rockhampton being cut-off by flood waters.
Pressing work commitments urged Financial Services Division's Ann-Maree Roughead, Susan Milne and Helene Remmits to find alternative means of getting to campus and eventually employ the services of a commercial helicopter to make the crossing.

The CQUniversity Cup on Wheels, one of the cycling circuit's leading events, scheduled for 14-15 January at the Rockhampton Velodrome has been postponed due to the extensive Queensland flooding. A new date has not yet been announced.

- Reef to suffer from Queensland flood waters

Flood waters that are engulfing the Keppel Islands off the Capricorn Coast may have a significant impact on the reef, according to a CQUniversity reef researcher.
Dr Alison Jones, based at the Centre for Environmental Management in Rockhampton, believes while river flood plumes are a seasonal occurrence at the mouth of the second largest catchment in Australia, the Fitzroy River, such a huge volume of water, combined with calm wind conditions could result in major coral bleaching and dieback.
