Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Born and raised in a small Ukrainian town, she attended high school in her home country before moving to Canada with her family and completing her senior schooling in her new location.

      CQUniversity's Centre for Railway Engineering (CRE) has welcomed a second major grant of $670,000 in funding over 2 years to develop technologies for long freight trains. There's a particular focus on markets such as the coal haulage system in Central Queensland and in the Hunter Valley and the iron ore haulage railways in Western Australia.

      Mackay Campus has overcome the setback of flooded carpeting earlier this year to create a fresh and funky Library reading and relaxation area - now known as 'The Zone'.

      Artwork for the walls and floor was provided by Master of Contemporary Arts students and staff from the University of Tasmania, who are using Mackay Campus as a base.
