Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Gladstone’s Jade Brischke was chuffed when she secured a job with Catholic Education, even before completing her teaching studies.

    Ms Brischke, who will start a new career as a school teacher at ???? this year, gained her job on the strength of her initial results in the Graduate Diploma of Learning and Teaching (GDLT) at Central Queensland University.

  • Country Fire Authority benefits from Melbourne Campus donations

    Staff at CQU Melbourne International Campus decided that rather than conducting the usual 'Kris Kringle', they would make a donation to a charitable fund.

    Donations were collected at the End of Year dinner and the generous staff donated a wonderful $725.

  • PNG honours CQU staff member for helping young women

    CQU Rockhampton staff member Val Gribble, from Human Resources, has been awarded the Member of the Order of Logohu (ML) - logohu being a Motu word for Bird of Paradise - in the PNG New Years Honours list.

    The award is based on Ms Gribble's many years of voluntary work for the Anglican Church in Papua New Guinea as a member of The Girls Friendly Society (GFS) - a large worldwide church organisation which works mainly with women and children.

  • Reconnecting CQU Brisbane and Gold Coast alumni

    Alumni from Brisbane and the Gold Coast came together for Central Queensland University’s inaugural Alumni event in Brisbane at the Carlton Crest Hotel on Monday December 11.

    The evening got underway with Vice-Chancellor Professor John Rickard welcoming all guests including alumni and new graduates to the CQU alumni network.

  • Doctoral candidate on photographic journey to Vanuatu

    CQU Doctor of Business by Research candidate Stephen Lin has visited Vanuatu with the help and sponsorship of that country's tourism office.

    Mr Lin, a Chinese media consultant and photographer, spent 12 days gathering photos to promote Vanuatu's cultural and natural tourism resources.
