Rockhampton has a fresh, new training and employment event under the Capricorn Careers Expo banner, scheduled for Tuesday August 2 at the CQUniversity Community Sports Centre.
Organisers have revamped the former careers, training and employment expo which has previously attracted around 80 exhibitors and students from 25 schools, university and TAFE as well as job seekers.

Central Queensland residents will be encouraged to record their personal flood experiences on paper as part of a CQUniversity-led project titled Resurfacing Stronger.
Coordinator Dr Lynda Hawryluk said the project would enable residents of the flood affected regions of Rockhampton and Emerald to share their personal stories of the 2010/2011 floods through life writing, creative non-fiction and songs.

Deng Malok spent his childhood 'living like a prisoner' in a refugee camp in Kenya, after being displaced by the civil war in his home country of Sudan.
Now aged 22 and living in Bundaberg, he is not only free but has his heart set on spreading his wings with a career as a commercial pilot, thanks to CQUniversity's Bachelor of Aviation degree.

CQUniversity's Bachelor of Aviation students are normally described as high-flying types, but this week they were laying low instead, pretending to be accident victims during an airport emergency simulation exercise.
Held as part of Bundaberg's Airshow, the disaster preparedness exercise included six Aviation students, engaging with multiple community services.
