Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

  • Past rugby players to recall footy fever

    CQU’s long association with the code of rugby union will be celebrated with a reunion of the club’s past players in Rockhampton from April 15 to 17.

    About 200 former players are being tracked down to attend the events which includes a CQU/Colts match, a “Night to Remember” at the Birdcage Bar on-campus, a tour of the local watering holes and a barbecue lunch and old boys match at Rugby Park.

    Central Queensland University's (CQU) Koala Research Centre will commit its operations on St Bees Island, near Mackay in Central Queensland, to another four-year research program with Earthwatch Corporation.

    The research partnership, set to be renewed in May, has allowed more than 130 trained volunteers from around the world to take part in the University's koala research projects on the Island over the past four years.
