Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    A vibrant community event was the setting for Simone Warkill's recognition as the first recipient of the Australian South Sea Islander Community Foundation Scholarship to graduate from CQUniversity.

    A ceremony to recognise her achievement was held during the 'Linking the Generations 2008' Australian South Sea Islander Recognition Family Fun Day, held in Rockhampton on August 30.

    The home team triumphed in the Chancellor's Challenge Cup Cricket Tournament held at CQUniversity Rockhampton last month, after a series of close encounters. The final match featured Rockhamton versus the Gold Coast in a very tense game.

    The award was among those announced during the Burnett Mary Regional Group's NRM Awards evening held in Bundaberg, to coincide with the Burnett Mary Partnership Showcase.
