Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    The Rockhampton event held at CQU Rockhampton raised $211,000 for cancer research, education and patient support programs of the Queensland Cancer Fund.

    CQU doctoral candidate Molly Yang - a former overseas agents coordinator at CQU International - has planted roots in Rockhampton, literally (thanks to 4 free trees from the city council planted on her birthday) and also figuratively.

  • All welcome at workshop on improving interpersonal relationships

    All interested people are welcome to attend a free workshop on 'Preventative Interventions for Improving Interpersonal Relationships', from 1pm-3pm on Tuesday, June 13 at the CQU Rockhampton Harvard Lecture Theatre (bldg 32).

    The workshop will be presented by visiting academic Michael Waldo, the Professor and Director of the Counseling and School Psychology Training and Research Centre at New Mexico State University in the United States.

    CQU's 3rd-year Advanced Exercise Physiology and Advanced Biomechanics students from the School of Health and Human Performance were engaged in end-of-semester presentations last Friday.

    Students in these classes spent the term completing research projects which culminated last week.
