Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    CQU graduate Constance-May Moore was among 800 honour students from 250 universities across six countries who gathered in August for the Golden Key International Honour Society Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

    Ms Moore and other high-achieving junior and senior college students attended the annual International Conference which offered career and personal development workshops, community service opportunities, and leadership and diversity education.

    That is according to Central Queensland University researcher Dr Matthew Rockloff (pictured) who has found a desire for the Four Es to be a reliable indicator of risk for problem gambling without explicitly asking about gambling habits.

    The World Airline Road Race is an annual run/vacation event that enables participants, friends and family to take part in an event while travelling to various worldwide destinations.

  • $25,000 provided by CQU to support the Arts in Central Queensland

    Central Queensland University (CQU) has contributed more than $25,000 to support six Arts projects in Central Queensland that include training for the restoration and exhibition of local Chinese artefacts and the wartime recollections of 15 local military men and women.

    The funds, administered through the University’s Regional Centre of the Arts (RCotA), are distributed to successful applicants (project managers) who have a CQU sponsor.
