Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

  • Fledgling teachers celebrate in Bundaberg

    About 40 education students have celebrated completing all their degree assessment requirements, in the company of friends, family, mentor teachers and academics on Bundaberg Campus.

    Guest speakers for the event included Head of Campus Professor Phillip Clift, Education Queensland rep John Faragher and local deputy principal Michael Kiss, who spoke on behalf of schools which have hosted students during practical sessions in the classroom.

    CQUniversity's Going Home event for international students is always a colourful affair and it was no exception when Indonesian Ministry of Finance official Nugi meet up with Germany's Jorunn Lorenzen, who became a jillaroo when arriving in Australia.

    Nugi (full name Nugroho Juli Purnana) has been studying a Master of Management, specialising in HRM, and is looking forward to applying his academic knowledge to his job with the Indonesian government in Jakarta.

    Civil and mechanical students did simulation modelling on their bridge designs before constructing them for 'deflection' testing under laboratory conditions.
