Central Queensland’s Maltese community will continue to be showcased at a unique photographic exhibition at the Central Queensland University library in Rockhampton until Tuesday September 9.

‘Our Shared Heritage: A Maltese Photographic Exhibition 1883 – 1940’ officially opened on Saturday and was a feature of the CQ Multicultural Fair on Sunday with up to 3200 viewing the pieces.

A research study conducted through Central Queensland University has found sub-surface drip irrigation using aerated water can lead to significant water savings and produce better crop yields in the heavy clay soils of the Central Queensland region.

School of Biological and Environmental Sciences Plant Sciences Group Doctoral Fellow Surya Prasad Bhattarai conducted his experiments in CQU’s Plant Sciences Group at Rockhampton on a range of crops, including vegetable soybean, tomato and cotton.

Whitsunday Anglican School won Mackay\'s National Science Week Year 10 Science Quiz trophy on Tuesday evening. Seven teams of three students from Clermont, Mackay Christian College, Pioneer and Whitsunday Anglican School competed for the trophy at Central Queensland University.

There was experimental madness and mega big words, such as chemiluminescence, when 200 primary school students visited CQU Bundaberg to celebrate National Science Week.

Science Coordinator Desirae Kirby said the 2003 Brainwaves Festival was bigger and better than last year’s and was one of the largest outside Brisbane.

It has been a busy time at CQU Bundaberg.

Not only have we been out spreading the word about the University, we have also had a variety of visitors come along to see the campus for them selves.

An inspiring exhibition and joint project between Bundaberg Arts Centre, CQU Bundaberg and two local artists showcased Bundaberg’s history like never before.

The exhibition An Inspirational Life, which ran for the last month at the city’s Arts Centre, told the story of local artists Charles and Sheena Hazzard and their involvement with the arts community of Bundaberg during the last 40 years.
