Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    The Australian Computer Society has accredited Central Queensland University's new Bachelor of Digital Innovation (BDI) at two specialisation levels.

    The accreditation covers the Professional level with the Information Technology specialisation and the Associate  level with the Interactive Environments specialisation.

    CQU Rockhampton researcher Jim Douglas kilted up recently to raise money for Capricorn Animal Aid, as a member of the local band Therapeutic Paradox.

    Jim, who is researching music videos for a PhD and compiling a doco on the birth of punk music in Rocky, was guitarist and singer for the band's debut for the fundraiser arranged by former punk musician turned librarian Cameron Borg.
