Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    $30,000 has been dispersed to fourteen community groups and organisations participating in the 10,000 Steps’ Community Initiatives Grant Scheme. The money will be injected into Rockhampton for the development of physical activity programs.

  • Faculty Call Centre now operating

    The Business and Law Call Centre has commenced operations in order to seek further enrolments for undergraduate students in Autumn Term and postgraduate students in Winter Term 2003.

    The Centre aims to call all enquirers who have not yet made an application to study, as well as those who have deferred their studies and have not yet re-enroled for the 2003 Terms.

    The Department of State Development will host a special workplace presentation to congratulate CQU’s employees in Rockhampton.

    The nine delegates were in Australia to inspect facilities that are to receive Chinese students for English and academic courses.

    CQU graduate Grant Challen has been awarded Queensland Health Young Achiever of the Year for his work on stem cell research. A current PhD student at UQ, Challen is researching treatments of kidney diseases that would not require dialysis or transplants.
