- Students come face to face with potential employers

Around 500 students took the chance to chat with potential employers thanks to a Student Careers Fair held at CQUniversity Rockhampton this week (March 22).
Fittingly, they gave themselves a sporting chance of success by visiting the campus sports centre, where representatives of 40 major local, state and national employers were assembled.

CQUniversity graduate Paul Tabone will join soprano Leslie Martin to present a range of beautiful operatic, operetta and music theatre pieces by candlelight in support of Earth Hour 2011.

A group of lecturers and nursing students from Kwassui University in Japan visited CQUniversity this week as part of an English language tour.
During the visit Professor Kyoko Kajihara met with CQUniversity nursing staff including Dean of the School of Nursing and Midwifery Professor Ysanne Chapman and award winning nurse educator Associate Professor Kerry Reid-Searl (and a number of her aliases).

When the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan last week concern flowed for the 20 Japanese students who are currently studying courses at CQUniversity in Rockhampton.
CQUniversity student support staff have since spoken to all the students on-campus confirming that their families in Japan are all safe.

Learning scientific elements can sometimes be a chore for high school students, but with the help of a new CQUniversity initiative science now has a new look.
CQUniversity has produced full colour, scientific periodic tables for all year 11 and 12 students in Rockhampton, Mackay and Bundaberg in response to need identified by university lecturer Leanne Voss.

CQUniversity graduates were amazed at the changing face of the Mackay campus when they attended an alumni function last week.
Pro Vice-Chancellor (Community & Engagement) and Head of Campus, Dr Pierre Viljoen discussed the significant changes to the Mackay campus with the visiting alumni, which included the new medical imaging programs, student residences and library.

CQUniversity Brisbane Campus Lecturer Dr Mary Tom has been awarded the Deputy Vice-Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (Tier 2) for 2010.
Mary won the award for the development and sustained use of a new teaching method that transforms the learning of computer programming into a more engaging, less daunting and less stressful experience.

CQUniversity Brisbane had a close shave last week which saw one of its staff members fall victim to an electric razor.
It was a one in three year event for Brisbane Graduation and TECC Coordinator Craig Macdonnell when he had his pony tail lopped for the Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave event.
