Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Congratulations to CQU Masters of Applied Science student Luke McArthur (pictured) who won the 'second-best presentation' prize at the Second Annual Student-Industry-CRC Symposium held at CQU Gladstone last week.

    Luke was among 4 CQU Process Engineering and Light Metals research students who had the chance to network with fellow researchers and industry representatives from around the country during the event.

  • CQU Mackay welcomes Korean students

    Federal Member for Dawson De-Anne Kelly officially welcomed 24 Korean students to Mackay during an address at CQU Mackay this week.

    The students, from Ulsan College, South East Korea, arrived in Mackay on Sunday and commenced English classes on Monday at CQU Mackay after a welcome by staff and instructors of CQU.

  • CQU Bundaberg and Wide Bay Institute of TAFE sign laboratory agreement

    A joint activity agreement has been signed between Central Queensland University and Wide Bay Institute of TAFE at CQU Bundaberg.

    The joint agreement will allow CQU students to continue sharing laboratory facilities at TAFE until the end of the year while CQU's new laboratories are completed.

    Mid-Year Orientation is conducted on various days next week for most students, with the exception of those attending CQU Mackay, which ran its event on June 28-29.
