Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

  • Nancarrow appointed to Ministerial Advisory Council

    Heather Nancarrow, Director of The Centre for Domestic and Family Violence Research based at CQU Mackay has been appointed Deputy Chair of the Ministerial Advisory Council on Domestic and Family Violence to represent the Central Queensland region.

    Ms Nancarrow is one of 14 Queenslanders who have been appointed by the Minister for Communities, Disability Services and Seniors Warren Pitt.

  • No fare for Fair buses from Rocky and Yeppoon

    There’ll be no fare for buses from Rockhampton and Yeppoon travelling to the CQ Multicultural Fair on Sunday, August 14.

    A free Rothery’s bus service will do round trips to CQU from Allenstown Plaza, Kern Arcade, City Centre Plaza, opposite Northside Plaza and Stockland Rockhampton, starting at 9am and departing every 30 minutes.

    Rockhampton health workers this week attended a free public seminar by visiting Swedish midwifery specialist Dr Ingegerd Hildingsson.

    Dr Hinglingsson, from Midsweden University, is a nurse and midwife academic who has specialised in the psychological aspects of pregnancy and childbirth.

  • Cuddily koala makes an appearance

    The CQ Koala Volunteers will be out in force at the CQ Multicultural Fair and CQU Rockhampton Open Day to support their work in providing funds and hands-on activity for koala research in Central Queensland.

    The activities include the ever-popular Cuddily Koala making regular appearances and community members are invited to take their own photos of family and friends with Cuddily for a gold coin donation.
