Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Assoc Prof Prater is quoted by The Gladstone Observer as saying that the building would address the lack of affordable student accommodation and allow the campus to grow as intended.

    Former test captain Allan Border will be the guest of honour in a combined Queensland Universities squad touring Sri Lanka and India.

    CQU Professor Elizabeth Taylor, Dean of the James Goldston Faculty of Engineering and Physical Systems, has joined the 13-member Queensland universities delegation to India and Sri Lanka.

    The delegation is visiting India in conjunction with the Queensland Universities Cricket Team tour led by former Australian captain Allan Border.

    Eduardo Heidemann from Brazil and Catherine Ausman Torres from Mexico were in Gladstone this week as part of their tour of regional universities.

    The Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music celebrated its 15th birthday with a gala concert and the naming of the Helen Lancaster foyer on Saturday evening.

    Staff and students entertained the packed auditorium throughout the evening, which also included a piece that unexpectedly required Associate Professor Lancaster to be ushered from the audience to accompany Ian Bofinger’s performance.

    This Friday (March 26) CQU Bundaberg Equity and Diversity Officer Neil Wex will encourage the group to have a chatter about social justice and answer the question - does social justice matter? Neil will focus on two areas specifically related to social justice, bullying and discrimination.
