Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Almost 500 graduates from dozens of different nations will attend 2 ceremonies for students of CQU Sydney's undergraduate and postgraduate campuses next Wednesday, December 13.

    Both graduation ceremonies (11am and 3pm) will be held at the Grand Harbour Ballroom, Star City, in Pyrmont.

    Dr Gary Poole (pictured) is the Director of the Centre for Teaching and Academic Growth and the Institute for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver.

    The Golden Key Society awards its members over $US400,000 annually through 17 different scholarship and award programs.

  • Research student gains a 'buddy' at marketing conference

    CQU doctoral candidate Molly Yang gained a senior academic 'buddy' while attending a doctoral colloquium held in the lead-up to this week's Australian and New Zealand Marketing Academy Conference (ANZMAC) in Brisbane.

    She was among PhD students from Australia, New Zealand, Finland, Norway, Thailand, Vietnam and Germany who had the chance to become temporary buddies of veteran marketing professionals and researchers.

    CQU’s Social Work academic Dr Daniel Teghe recently played host to Victoria University’s Professor Michael Muetzelfeldt when he conducted a ‘network’ seminar in Rockhampton.

    One of the topical areas which the visitor's seminar addressed was the relationship between non-government networks of service delivery and government departments.

    aCQUIRe, CQU's digital repository, has been 2 years in the planning and is now available for staff and researchers to submit their publications.

  • Aid organisation CEO guest for Brisbane graduation

    CARE Australia CEO Dr Robert Glasser (pictured) is the guest speaker for next Monday's (December 11) CQU graduation ceremony in Brisbane.

    Dr Glasser will address 127 students from 27 different nations, across 4 different continents.

    The Evaluation Services, Analysis and Planning Unit is pleased to announce that Rick Thompson is the lucky prize winner in the CQU Australian Graduate Survey competition.

    Graduates who completed their program of study in 2005 and filled in a survey were included in the draw.

  • Sydney conducts student tours

    CQU's Sydney Graduate Campus this week conducted group tours for all new students that have commenced in term 3, 2006.

    Students met at the Client Services department and an advisor then led groups of up to 15 students on a tour to familiarise them with campus facilities and support services available at the University.
